Headmaster's Welcome
For over 160 years, OBH has been a school that celebrates excellence in prep school education. Boys and girls aged 2 – 13 benefit from an unparalleled education in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable and go on to take up places at many of the country’s most prestigious senior schools. These outcomes are not how the school measures itself, though. Above all, OBH is a school where children can be themselves and our core focus will always be on creating an environment in which this is celebrated.
An OBH education is a truly immersive experience and we believe strongly in children having access not only to outstanding classroom teaching but also unrivalled co-curricular facilities. Wherever a child’s passion might lie, whether in the exam hall, on the stage, or the sports field, OBH is a school that will provide endless opportunity to nurture it. When our wonderful Year 8 leave us each year, they do so with many highly sought-after scholarships as a result.
Boarding is, and has always been, a core part of an OBH education, and we continue to celebrate this happy area of school life. Our vibrant boarding community of 90+ pupils enjoy a home-from-home experience, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. OBH’s motto, ‘Spero’ (I Hope), guides everything the school does. With a strong foundation in preparing young people for their future lives, OBH hopes these futures will be filled with happiness and success.
